What better way to celebrate Australia Day than with a sausage sizzle, a dip in the pool and lively music!
City of Canterbury Bankstown is holding several Australia Day Pool Parties at its Leisure and Aquatic Centres on Sunday 26 January, from 10am-4pm.
Bring the family along to soak up the festivities at Roselands, Revesby and Birrong Leisure & Aquatic Centre’s and Greenacre Splash Park.
For the low cost of $2 entry (and for free at Greenacre Splash Park), there’ll be plenty of family-friendly entertainment including a live DJ, water games and Aussie-themed craft activities. There will also be a free sausage sizzle from 11am-2pm.
Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek encouraged everyone to come along and celebrate what it means to be Australian.
“Whether you’re a new arrival or you were born here, we should all feel incredibly lucky to call Australia home,” Mayor El-Hayek said.
“Let’s come together and celebrate what makes our country and our City so great – good times, good people and community spirit!”
As part of our annual celebration, Mayor El-Hayek will also name the Canterbury-Bankstown Australia Day Award Winners and swear in 25 new citizens.
Included in the Awards are the Citizen of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Community Organisation of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Woman of the Year and the Jack Mundey Environment and Heritage Award.
