His Excellency Bishop Antoine-Charbel Tarabay announced the following:
A project which started in 2014 has today become a reality, and it’s even more special in this the Golden Jubilee Year our Maronite Eparchy of Australia, New Zealand and Oceania.
This beautiful statue, a unique piece of sacred art made specifically for the Parish, will in due course replace the existing statue atop Our Lady of Lebanon Co-Cathedral – Sydney.
I would like to thank renowned international artist Rudy Rahme for a most beautiful image of our Lady. My deep gratitude to Our Lady of Lebanon Co-Cathedral clergy, its Stewardship Committee, staff and volunteers, and to Ms Violette Bouhamad for her very generous contribution.
Today was a very special day to say the least. The statue will be officially unveiled and blessed on the eve of the Feast of the Assumption on Monday 14 August after the 6pm feast mass, and farewell of the relics of our saints, set to begin their journey to our Melbourne Parishes.
Let us reflect on all of these blessings in our community and more, beseeching our blessed Mother, Our Lady of Lebanon, to continue to watch over and protect her children wherever they may be.
