Help Us Build Darb Mar Charbel – St Charbel Trail a Sacred Pilgrimage Trail Connecting Lebanon and the World.
Inspired by the life and legacy of Saint Charbel — the beloved patron saint of the Maronite community, Darb Mar Charbel is a 130-kilometre spiritual hiking trail. currently being built across the mountains of Lebanon. It will connect over 40 villages, from Kozhaya to Bcharre, Bekaakafra, Hadath El Jebbeh, Annaya, all the way to Harissa, passing through the most important life events of St Charbel.
Darb Mar Charbel is officially endorsed by His Excellency Bishop Antoine-Charbel Tarabay, and authorised by the Maronite Patriarch, His Beatitude and Eminence Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rai. With the guidance and support of the Monastery of Saint Charbel and Father Assad Lahoud, this sacred mission is being carried forward with deep spiritual purpose and integrity.
More than just a trail, Darb Mar Charbel is a symbol of faith, unity, and pilgrimage — a journey that honours our history and inspires generations to come.
The target for the completion of this phase of the trail is $1,500,000 and we are counting on the Lebanese community in Sydney to achieve this goal— a profound commitment to building a lasting legacy that links Lebanon and Australia through the strength and spirituality of Saint Charbel.
This free and public trail will become one of the most significant spiritual and tourism initiatives in Lebanon, drawing tens of thousands of pilgrims and visitors each year.
Each metre costs $30 to build, promote, and maintain. This includes:
- Trail-blazing and signage (built to world trail standards)
- Training local guides
- Establishing guesthouses
- Community engagement and education
- Ongoing maintenance and care
Every cent donated will be invested directly into local communities — creating sustainable work and tourism opportunities across more than 40 villages along the trail.
Darb Mar Charbel will welcome people from all faiths and all walks of life to walk in the footsteps of Saint Charbel, experiencing the same spiritual connection he once did.
From Saint Charbel’s birthplace in the Lebanese mountains to the hearts of Lebanese around the world — including here in Sydney — let’s build this sacred path together.
Let’s walk this journey — for Saint Charbel, for Lebanon, and for the generations to come.
Metre by metre, every dollar counts.
