Albanese holds talks with Biden in Washington

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has touched down in Washington for a meeting with President Joe Biden.

He was invited to the United States by the president for an official state visit.

The AUKUS submarine deal and relations with China are to be a key part of the talks with President Biden.

There will also be meetings with congressmen to try and convince them to pass legislation allowing the AUKUS agreement to proceed.

Wednesday will be the biggest day of the trip with a visit to The Oval Office, a joint press conference with the president, and a state dinner in Australia’s honour.

The Prime Minister’s visit to the US comes just two weeks ahead of a historic visit to China, the first visit by an Australian Prime Minister in seven years.
