Winter Blast European Night Market set to blast into Liverpool

Liverpool is bracing itself for a new ice age when Winter Blast returns to the CBD next week to recreate the excitement of a European night market.

One of the highlights of Liverpool City Council’s program of outdoor attractions, the event will feature an open air ice rink, a wonderful array of foods from all over Europe, including France, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Italy and Germany.

For atmosphere there will be snow. For the artisans there will be arts and crafts, French flag cookie decorating, babushka colouring, venetian mask decorating and Amsterdam Windmill craft.

The three-day open-air festival will run in Liverpool Mall from June 30-July 2 from 3pm to 9pm.

To cater to both accomplished and novice skaters, the ice rink will continue operating until July 16.

Night markets are a traditional source of fun, excitement and colour that brighten the dark nights of a European winter with food, music, arts and crafts and shopping.

The inaugural Winter Blast in Liverpool last year was a crowd-pleaser last year with thousands of local residents and visitors crowding into the mall to enjoy the jovial atmosphere.

“It was a great success last year and this year will be bigger and better,” promised Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun.

“There will be something for everyone to enjoy.

“It’s a fun time with lots to eat and see.”

Liverpool’s spectacular attractions are becoming major drawcards on the calendar with crowds growing significantly each year.

Earlier productions this year of Most Blessed Nights and Motherland drew record attendances of more than 300,000 people over several weekends.

Their success has crowned Liverpool as the centre piece of public celebrations in the Great South West.
